About

My home and studio are in Warwick. I make pots using a potter’s wheel, mostly in porcelain and the decoration is inspired by nature and poetry. My work is available directly here, from my website shop or studio visit by appointment. Also, online through the Blue Ginger Gallery www.blue-ginger.com/shop and Etsy.com/shop/poetrypots

I run occasional workshops in my studio for adults and children.

I studied Fine Art at Leeds Polytechnic (1975 -78) and Illustration at Croydon College. I gained an Art Teacher’s Certificate (PGCE) at Goldsmiths and have taught art and ceramics over many years to children and adults.

Between 2004 and 2014, I was part of Torquil Pottery and The Gallery Upstairs, Henley-in-Arden. This was a popular centre in the Midlands for art and craft selling the work of many well-known contemporary artists and makers. It was founded in 1960 by my father, Reg Moon. As well as producing my own work, I helped curate group exhibitions for 40 – 50 artists twice a year, and taught regular workshops in the pottery.

My background was growing up in an Elizabethan house, with a pottery shop at the front and a pottery studio at the back – both my parents were shop-keepers: Dad sold his beautiful pots there and Mum sold elegant designer shoes from her shop in Birmingham. We were lucky to have a long garden with a stream at the bottom and fields beyond, so a love of nature for me began with paddling in the stream with my brother and looking under rocks for crayfish.
